Documentaries

I spend a lot of time watching documentaries. Its really interesting to me to see what interests others and how passionate they are. There are so many of them out there. Some are shinning light on an issue, some are focusing on a person, place or thing, some are really just for fun.

Here are a few of my favorites, all of which can be found on Netflix:

1. Burts Buzz | This is seriously one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. It was inspiring, informational, comical, heart warming, and everything in between. It follows the life of the founder of Burts Bees. This man is hilarious but also very inspirational. He has this huge and vast empire and all he wants to do is live on the land with his dog. It really shines a light on things that are important in life. I recommend this one to everyone.

2. First Love | In this documentary we follow the lives of three Australian surfers. I had no clue exactly what went into surfing for a big company like Billabong or Roxy but in this documentary you really see that these girls are passionate and driven.

3. Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorfs | I absolutely love shopping. It's one of my best hobbies! This documentary takes a look and the infamous Bergdorf store in New York City. It shows the hard work that goes into the holiday windows and explains why Bergdorfs is so unique in the shopping world.

4. Hungry for Change | There are very few things I really don't care to hear about. One of them is where my meat comes from. I like staying ignorant about this subject. But in this documentary they don't really shed a negative light on that side of the food industry. Instead they focus on the health benefits on an all natural green diet. I need to add more greens into my diet and this documentary helped motivate that.

5. Ballerina | Ballet is one of those arts I very thoroughly enjoy. I'm not an art person. I'm terrible at it and quite frankly when I ask "what is it" I don't want to hear "what ever you interpret it to be". But ballet, I get it. It's a beautiful art form. This documentary takes a look at what the life of a prima ballerina is like.

6. Happy | Happiness is something we all strive to have. What is happiness? What contributes to every ones happiness? How do we strive to make others happy? This documentary really shows the difference between real happiness and temporary happiness and what different cultures consider a happy life.

7. Inside: Lego | I never would have thought tiny building blocks could inspire me. But they totally do in this short documentary! If you have 21 minutes, check this one out. It's really interesting to see the inside of a company that has its hand in so many different fields.

8. Being Elmo | I have always been a fan of the Muppet's. I could never be a puppeteer though. In Being Elmo you follow the life of the man who plays Elmo. It's really strange but also delightful to see someone really cherish his job so much.

9. Please Subscribe | In Please Subscribe you follow the lives of Vloggers on Youtube. Its weird. I never would have thought someone could make a living from getting drunk and cooking in front of a camera but alas, someone has. Its really a cool documentary about some really cool people.

10. Anything TED | Oh TED. I have followed the TED Talk podcast for a while now and I love it. People are so freaking interesting it's crazy! I find myself watching video after video of these really fascinating people and what they have experienced. Love TED. Love it.

I am always looking for new documentaries. Which ones do you like?

XOXO, Kait
