Bandaids Don't Fix Bullet Holes

I'm the first to admit when things aren't going my way, I take it really hard. I mostly take it out on myself but sometimes I find that I get grumpy with the people around me, which is really not fair. It's hard to get yourself out of a funk, especially when it feels like one thing after another is bringing you down.

Here are a few ways I try to get over my bad days:

1.Writing it out | I really enjoy journaling. Its probably the easiest way for me to see if I'm being over dramatic with an issue. If I'm annoyed with my whinniness when I reread my own word then so are the people around me!

2. Talking to my best friend | I don't know about you but my best friend is the most incredible person I know. How we aren't related I'll never know! As I was talking about something I'm struggling with I mentioned that I feel like I'm lying about my feelings, she said "I'm the one person in the world you don't have to lie to". She is the one person who won't judge me or tell me I'm wrong for feeling how I feel.

3. Talk to family | When my best friend isn't there, sometimes it's nice to get some advise from the people who are programmed to love you and have been there before. Sometimes I call my grandmother just to talk, with out going into detail, and she gives me the best advise without even knowing it.

4. Take time out | It is completely okay to be sad. If you need time to go cry, take it. If you can't get the issue out of your mind and you feel like you need to cry, take yourself to the bathroom and just have a moment. Sometimes all you need is some privacy.

5. Breath | Meditation breathing is one of the most effective methods I use to get myself calm again and refocus. It so easy but so effective.

Remember, time heals all wounds, even broken hearts. Sometimes it takes longer to heal but it always happens. Band aids don't fix bullet holes but time does.

P.S. The picture might confuse some people but it's from Taylor Swifts new music video bad blood where the quote "band aids don't fix bullet holes" came from. She just looks so tough here! I love it!

Cast Member 101: Non Essentials

I've already posted the essentials that should be invested in to make your life as a Cast Member just a little easier. Those are all things in my opinion and in my experience that I found really useful. I'm constantly finding new useful things that make my Cast Member life easier so here is a list of things that if I forget them at home I can still make it through the day but I really like to have them.

6. A small purse | I keep my itty bitty purse in my bag when I'm going to work. It just makes it easier because then I can pull it out of my bag on my days off and I don't have to constantly change bags.

5. A makeup bag | This bag has my favorite samples of makeup along with a little deodorant (this is Florida after all), hair ties and bobby pins, a small hair brush, extra gum, and purell. I like to keep it small and make sure these are all things I need and not just a random collection of stuff. Hence the chapstick over the lipstick.

4. A Kindle | I would bring my iPad but I don't want to one day open my locker to find it missing. So, I keep my Kindle in my bag because it's cheaper to replace and I'm not as attached to it. I also make sure it has a few books I'll want to read during break on it. This is seriously a lifesaver. If I have something I'm working on where I would need a laptop (like an assignment) I bring my iPad and a small keyboard. But most of the time I stick to the Kindle.

3. A day planner | I like to write down my schedule rather than input it into my calendar on my phone. I feel like I remember it better that way. It does take up some room but I think it's worth it.

2. A reusable bag | I keep this reusable bag in my big bag because sometimes I don't want something just sitting in my backpack bag. I also like to put my costume in there when I'm done with work. It's exhausting having to walk everywhere in a big skirt!

1. A cellphone charger | My phone will not hold a charge all day. It's almost three years old and it knows. Also, if you want to play a game, take pictures, play music, etc. you're going to want a charger. The link is not the same as the picture but I recommend it. I've been able to charge my phone 12 times with only one charge of the portable charger. Seriously, the best investment.

These are the things I carry with me when I go to work everyday. They really make my life at work easier and much more entertaining!

Cast Member 101: Essentials

So, this isn't my first rodeo as a Cast Member for Walt Disney World. Three years ago I was lucky enough to join the Cast as a Merchandise Hostess at the Magic Kingdom. I was an intern with Disney's College Program for the Fall Advantage program of 2012.

This time around I'll be a Merchandise Hostess again in the same park across the street from my original home base! It's pretty exciting to be back where my journey with the company began.

For anyone starting with Disney there are a few essentials that I recommend investing in to make your life a little easier.

The links below are my personal favorites and are different than the picture.

5. A lunch box | Its so much easier to search for you meal when it's in a lunch box with a unique pattern. Oh, and never put a drink with a logo (Pepsi, Coke, Sprite, etc.) in the fridge because it's pretty gross trying to figure out which one out of twenty is yours.

4. Flat sandals | As comfy as those black shoes may be you're not going to want to walk in them when you don't have to. Seriously, I use to take mine off during break. You also want something thin and light that you can throw in your bag easily.

3. A unique back pack | You need a place to put all your stuff. Do not be one of those girls who brings a teeny tiny purse and then carries the other 500 things you need to make it through a 14 hour shift. It's not worth it. Also, don't be someone who brings the most expensive bag around to show off.

The linked backpack is super similar to mine except mine has flowers on it and I got it at the outlet. Also, I switched back and forth between my messenger bag and my regular back pack.

2. An ID card holder | You have to show your ID card when you're backstage. The Cast Member stores, Company D, carry the different character ones and they have a wide variety of them. Vera Bradley is also a super popular option for lanyards.

1. Black Shoes | The most important thing of all that a Cast Member must have is polishable black shoes. Make sure they're shoes you want to wear and that you can wear them all day.

These are just a few essential thing that are needed to make things easier as a Cast Member! I'll make sure to write a post about what you will want too!

About Me

Hello! I'm Kait! I'm a former Disney College Program participant and current Cast Member for Walt Disney World. I absolutely love working for Disney and I'm so excited to further my career with them. I spend a lot of my free time watching Netflix, playing with my puppy, and exploring my beautiful city. I love to travel and have been out of the states once. In March of 2014 I traveled to India and spent two weeks exploring that beautiful country. I can't wait to wander the rest of the world.

About the title: Coming up with a blog title that no one else has is extremely hard. I wanted the title to be unique and also be relevant. Sea of Palms comes from the palm trees here in Florida because I feel like I live in a sea of them! They were always one of the most exciting parts of vacationing here as a kid because we didn't have them where I live.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog! I do appreciate it!

Big Magical News...

I have a job! Lemme say, it's about dang time. This job search has been miserable and long. Now without further ado here is a picture of my name tag!

That's right, I will officially be a Cast Member again! Except this time I actually get a say in my availability. It's been three very long years away from the company and I'm very excited to start my journey with Disney once again.

I'll post more about my role, the company as a whole, and Walt Disney World. Keep in mind when reading, commenting, and asking questions that there are some things I can't talk about (backstage, behind the magic information, etc.) but I'm more than willing to talk about what I can.

I'm so excited to share this journey on this blog!

XOXO,
Kait

Welp, we've officially been in Florida for an entire month. I can't even comprehend the fact that I have lived here for a month already! So much has happened and it's hard to even think that we were making the daylong journey to this beautiful state over a month ago.

To try to not get too long winded, here is a list of things I've learned so far living in the beautiful new state I call home.

I've learned...

... The heat is not as nice as I remember. I knew it was great to not be cold all the time. I didn't know it is almost as bad to be hot than cold.

... The bugs are bigger, meaner, and have a vendetta. I don't care who you are, Texas does not have bigger bugs.

... You can live someplace where you can't walk to buy milk. Even though I don't drink milk this is still concerning to me.

.... There are a freaking ton of people and a minuscule amount of jobs. This one has sucked.

... Flamingos are native to South America, not Florida. This was a very sad realization for me. But the African Cranes? They're here and they are not afraid to tell you.

... Everything is here to kill you, hurt you, injure you, or cause you to be ill. Heat, snakes, gators, bugs, Brazilians, the list goes on and on.

... Gators. 63 to be exact so far. I have learned more about gators than I ever hoped to learn.

... Those pretty little water fountain in all the ponds and large bodies of water are there for a reason, not for decoration.

... Not everyone wants to talk about Disney World and they don't care if you've been a Cast Member. Bunch of weirdos.

I'll try my best to keep everyone updated but communication isn't my best quality, hence the blog. Everyone can come to one spot and I can get some mass communication out to my friends and family. Hope everyone enjoys!
